This Friday’s featured female is: Isabella Bastiani
This week’s featured female is the one and only Isabella Bastiani, a compound target archer from Long Island, NY. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her, so I know how deserving of this award she truly is.
Isabella was nominated by Sabrina Varga, who had this to say about Isabella, “She is such a huge inspiration for every female, especially me, at my old archery range, C&B, which has now closed.” Having visited this range a few times, I can attest to the fact that Isabella was a role model for many at C&B.
While attending college, Isabella shot many Collegiate events, and she even qualified for the 2017 World University Games. That same summer, “she went to Puerto Rico and won the silver at the XII Copa Juan Enrique Barrios World Ranking Event going against World #1, Sara Lopez.” I remember how excited I was watching scores from that tournament and seeing her move through each round with ease.
Not only has Isabella been a success on the archery field, but she is actually pursuing a degree in Neuroscience. Yes, I said neuroscience. Can I say IMPRESSIVE! It’s clear to me that she strives to be the best at anything she does on or off the field. What I truly find inspiring about Isabella, however, is her unassuming demeanor. You’d never know from talking to her that she has been as successful as she has.
Sabrina went on to say, “she has taken a break from archery to pursue her Neuroscience undergraduate degree. She inspired me to take archery to the next level and compete at a higher level. Now I too have to take a break from archery to focus on school but it is so amazing to watch her be able to pick up her bow and shoot amazing. Everyone loves to watch her shoot and we’re all waiting for her to get back and perform even better!”
As a female, I think Isabella is a great role model for the next generation. She has shown that with hard work, you can achieve great things. She also is not afraid to step away from archery in order to reach her academic goals. I have no doubt she will be back on the archery field one day, even stronger than before.
If you know Isabella personally, please reach out to her and let her know how awesome she is, and how much she means to you. If you don’t know her, join me in giving her a virtual high five for kicking butt while being a genuinely nice person!
